Hello everyone! I’m very excited to announce my first writing project for this blog: The Cardinal Directive.
The story takes place on an alternate reality’s Mars, successfully colonized only a few generations ago. The people there thrive in large cities covered by biodomes, which protect them from the harsh Martian climate and keep their environment stable. Though suitable for human habitation, these bubbles of safety exist within the vast and seemingly endless wasteland that is the Martian desert, with several days of travel between them. Without the proper protective suit and equipment, this trip is impossible.
Special supply runners, known as “Harriers”, make these dangerous trips daily to move people and cargo between the cities with the help of bioengineered, draconic-like creatures that pull their hovercrafts. It’s a dangerous job. One suit breach, forgotten oxygen cartridge, or lost map could be the difference between life and death, and these dangers only grow as people go missing and a new, intelligent threat emerges from deep in the desert…
The Cardinal Directive is, first and foremost, a passion project with a setting that I’ve wanted to explore for a long time. It’s a bit of science fiction, a bit of fantasy, and a whole lot of survival horror, with a dash of mystery thrown in there for spice! Most of the story will be presented as Mission Logs, which will read like a normal book, but additional content may also be posted between logs and take alternate forms.
I absolutely adore this project, and I can’t wait to show you all what I’ve been working on.
The Cardinal Directive will be available for paid subscribers only, and is scheduled to update on Fridays! The first issue will release this Friday, October 8th, 2021 so if you aren’t subscribed yet and want to read this series, be sure to do so by then! If you miss that deadline, don’t worry — previous logs will always be available here in the Archive.
