Hello everyone! It’s been a long time since I’ve done a post like this (or even an Author’s Notes in general, which is odd to think about considering the name of the blog), but I’ve been thinking a lot about Sleepless and trying to dissect its narrative so I can better portray the themes and throughlines that I want to going forward.

Doing that requires an understanding of the entire history of the project though, which I feel like I’ve talked about before but deserves revisitation considering where the story sits now.

In short, Sleepless has had a long, messy history. It might be one of my messiest projects to date, which is really saying something, and it’s hard to explain or understand why Sleepless, which had an outline, is a mess but Cardinal has blazed on with no formal plans at all.
