Welcome to the new year everyone! It’s the first Sunday of January, so it’s time for a Housekeeping article! Let’s get right into it:
Spring(?) Cleaning
… so, it obviously isn’t Spring yet, but still! There’s a lot of things I want to get cleaned up around here. Here’s a shortlist of things I want to do this month:
New icon/banner — We’re long overdue for an update to the Author’s Notes assets. The original picture is something I did in the dead of night with barely any light (or sleep) while setting this blog up, and I’ve wanted to do something new ever since. I’m hoping to do some art — something that blends elements of the free content as well as Sleepless and Cardinal. We’ll see how it goes!
Tab descriptions — for anyone navigating through the site rather than the email, you may notice that Cardinal and Sleepless have their own sections where you can find everything related to them. They already have descriptions, but I don’t consider them to be good representations of the material. So, new tab descriptions on the way!
The Cardinal Directive’s glossary needs to be updated. I don’t know if there are necessarily any new terms that are critical, but it’s still something I want to keep up with for the sake of it!
The article that’s currently pinned (and acts as the site’s “home page” of sorts) is outdated. I’ll be writing up something new soon to give any new visitors a better understanding of the content I create here as well as where to find me on social media!
For that matter, a lot of the default pages on the site need to be updated to reflect changes in how this newsletter began to what I write now.
The Wednesday Article
This isn’t so much of an update, but I just wanted to say that making that article not mandatory has taken a lot of pressure off and I’m very glad I did it. It has allowed me to focus on writing for Sleepless and Cardinal a lot more and I like to think that it shows.
Sleepless: Chapter Four, posted last Friday, ended up being the longest article I wrote in 2021. It would have been longer too, but the site started to warn me about some length limits that google functions by and decided to split my original planned chapter into two.
Q&A Sessions(?)
This was something I wanted to do for a while, but I don’t know if I see a point/any significant interest in it from readers. Do you have questions you’d like me to answer about any of my books or the universe they are set in? About Sleepless and Cardinal? General writing advice? Would you be interested in an article that compiled all these questions and answers into one place? Let me know! I’m genuinely curious!
I usually don’t do this, but I figured it was the start of the year, so why not!
Friendly reminder to like this article and comment below if you have anything to say! Also, don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t — for the low low cost of five dollars a month (or fifty for the whole year), you get full access to not one but two currently running stories that alternate every Friday, one of which is a chapter-by-chapter publishing of my newest book, Sleepless!
And hey! If you know anyone you think might like my content? Consider sharing this blog with them!
In any case, that’s all for me today! I hope everyone is having a wonderful start to 2022.
