November Housekeeping!
Some updates and summary since last month!
Hello again everyone! Not too much to talk about today, but let’s get right into it!
Sleepless
You may have noticed that The Cardinal Directive was missing this past Friday, replaced instead by Sleepless’s prologue!
From now on, Cardinal and Sleepless will share Fridays, alternating which one gets posted weekly. So this Friday will be Mission Log #5 of Cardinal, and the week after will be the first chapter of Sleepless!
Sleepless is a book I’ve wanted to write since sophomore year in high school, though the original idea is very different from how the story plays out now. It has something of a science fiction premise, but a very fantastical plotline and a world that I’m very excited to explore. It actually takes place in the same universe as The Cardinal Directive, though there is no planned overlap of any characters or plot elements.
Due to technical difficulties, I had to release the prologue to everyone, but future installments will be for paid subscribers only. I can’t wait to show everyone this wild and wonderful story that’s been brewing in my mind for all these years!
Like Cardinal’s supplemental files, there may be times when Wednesday’s paid article is substituted instead with art from Sleepless’s universe.
Technical Difficulties
About those technical difficulties? I figured out what went wrong — I schedule my uploads so that they release at 7am. I clicked the box to schedule a release time, but somehow managed to deselect the box that actually sent an email. Needless to say, this probably won’t happen again now that I know what I did wrong!
Audio Recordings
Alright, so I was really excited to start offering audio versions of all my articles. Unfortunately, it’s quickly becoming clear that that isn’t super viable at this time unless I cut some corners. I produce two to three articles depending on the week. Regular articles run upwards of five pages, while Cardinal tends to run 8-12 pages, and Sleepless may exceed that number in the future. Twenty-some articles already published with an additional 13-22+ pages to record every week can be daunting!
So here’s what we’re gonna do. I have the equipment to record, so I’m going to. The catch is, though The Cardinal Directive and Sleepless will have a small amount of production involved, all other articles will be read pretty much just straight through. This may mean some articles will have background noises or I might mess up the words.
This is meant to make the recording process more casual, so I can hopefully get a lot more done.
Friday’s storytime articles will get special treatment just because they’re meant to be treated more like audiobooks. This does mean that their recordings will take longer, and I don’t have any set dates for when these recordings will be done by.
In essence, we’re playing fast and loose with audio versions of things until I figure out what kind of a schedule works for me.
