Before anything of note can be made out visually, there’s a loud tumble and crash as well as the noises of fabric rubbing against the camera and Alison and Sebastian calling out.
It lasts only a few moments before it goes quiet again. Several seconds later, the screen flickers back to life, light filtering into the visual as Sebastian brushes the camera off and puts it back in his holster. His hands and voice shake as he does, and it’s not hard to see why.
“No — No no no…”
They’d started their ascent from the roof of one of the half-buried buildings. Moments before, they had been high in the air, making progress despite the odds and terrain.
And now, they were back where they had started, staring up at their only way out.
