The Cardinal Directive is a lot of things, most notably a sci-fantasy apocalyptic horror, with a bit of a space western touch. Our story focuses on a cast of supply-class “harriers” — people who make the dangerous trek between the isolated cities of Mars to deliver vital supplies.
Manning low-altitude hovercraft pulled by genetically engineered dragons, harriers face a myriad of dangers in their line of work — some from the environment, some from raiders, and others from phenomena unexplained. The newest danger on the endless sands falls squarely into the final category — an enemy that refuses to stay dead, and whose number only grows with every day that passes.

Sleepless is another sci-fantasy story, but this novel focuses more heavily on the fantastical elements.
We follow 16-year-old Margo Kingston, whose life under lock and key turns upside down when the colony ship she was on crashes into an uncharted planet far off course. Stranded from all human civilization on an apparently empty world, it’s not clear what’s worse — the fact that everyone but her seems to be blind to the world’s oddities, or the creeping implication that this place might hold answers about her past.
